We will get a grip on the new DS 3 from DS Automobiles for the time being.
You may be aware that DS Automobiles is now an independent premium brand (so do not mention Citroen), but we have to wait a year or two before the first complete car is started out of the brand.
Nevertheless, DS is planning to start six completely new cars by 2020, so the future looks bright.
The DS 3 is an important car in Great Britain, in which more DS 3 Blinking and Cabrio models were sold last year than in France or another global market.
Cynics could say that the new DS 3 is the same as the old car, but with the signing DS nose.
The reality is that a little more went on. Yes, it has a nose job, but there are now more personalization options (three million!) And it is more connected than ever.
The new DS 3 highlights include “DS LED vision” lights, mirror screen functionality (i.e. you can connect your iPhone OT Android to the 7-inch color touchscreen) and an active city brake system to get minor collisions at low speeds impede.
There are also at the front and rear parking sensors, a return camera, new interior, body colors, alloy wheels and revised (efficient) engine options.
The DS 3 is officially classified as “Supermini” and is available as a flow rear or convertible -especially against the mini.
For the first time I tested the DS 3 with the new PureTech 130-Motor-one 1.2-liter unit.
DS played it safe with the new DS 3 because they probably have difficulty distinguishing them from the outgoing version.
The largest giveaway is likely that it will look more unmistakable than ever, since there is a confusing number of color options for body, roof and trim colors.
Start the car and there is no mistake in the Thrum of the Three Cylinder, which creates a decent 128 hp time and can reach 62 miles per hour in 8.9 seconds.
I am a big fan of these small engines, which usually shoot higher, but combine powerful power and good fuel consumption for a petrol car. The official figures for the DS 3 are 62.8 MPG together, while only 105 g/km CO2 radiates. This means that road tax costs only 20 GBP per year. For what it is worth, I have achieved a closer to 50 MPG in a mixed city, a street and a motorway experience.
The car feels quickly and it is a mostly gratifying experience, although the journey is on the firm side and is a bit of street noise to keep away from rougher roads.
The excellent Little Engine contributes to the funny element, but if you are looking for a really sporty DS 3, you have to wait for the new “performance” model.
Inside I would say that it is Funkyer as an Avant Garde, but still unmistakable. The DS 3 is well equipped and there are three “basic” equipment variant fate, elegance and prestige with air conditioning systems, alloy wheels and the new 7-inch touchscreen-screen system that comes on you by default. Each DS 3 is also supplied with six airbags, rear-isofix children’s seat holders and electronic stability control.
There is Ultra -Prestige further above, then the area is crowned by the black versions and the performance version.
It is spacious with comfortable sitting and good visibility. My only easy disputes are that the driving position is a bit high and I kept knocking the center armrest with my arm with my arm when changing the equipment. It is a little more in the rear, not only for longer legs, but also for headroom.
The center console is less crowded than before, since the new unrest system made it possible to eliminate no less than 20 buttons. The most fascinating remaining button (high up on the left side of the center console) is indeed a fragrant air freshener.
The prestige -slanted version with which I drove at £ 18,795 was delivered with DS -Signature Brown “Watchstrap Leder” strings. However, some of the materials used elsewhere in the cabin are a little less bonus.
The trunk is practically 285 liters – 74 more than the mini – and 980 liters to 731, with the rear seats folded down.
Verdict: The DS Restyle and the upgrade of the 3 gave him a new life contract. It is still fun to drive and it is difficult to choose between the economic engines offered, while the offering general variety of personalization options mean that DS 3S always look unmistakable.
