Suzuki Baleno review – thegioibiker Blog

Every now and then a new car comes – apparently out of the blue – and surprises everyone. The new Suzuki Baleno Supermini is such a car.

The Baleno only seems to turn Suzuki, which set its position in the small car sector with a different range of value.

The economical Celerio, introduced in 2015, is already one of the cheapest cars. Go to Evergreen Swift with his loyal fan base – especially in the entertaining Swift sports. Next comes the Baleno …

Suzuki Baleno

The BALENO is a little larger than the Swift and is a better all-round package and it is able to assert itself against the established opposition, which is not an easy performance, if you consider the competitors, Ford Fiesta, Skoda Fabia, Renault Twingo and VW Polo.

The Baleno series begins at £ 12,999 and my test car was equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharger petrol engine with a 1-cylinder three-cylinder, which is expected to be the most popular choice.

A 1.2-liter-mild hybrid petrol engine (Suzuki First) is also available. With CO2 emissions of only 94 g/km, electrical energy is stored under brakes to increase performance. However, the car cannot run alone with electrical performance, like some hybrids.

Beauty is in the eye of the viewer, but I think the Baleno is a good looking supermini, especially from behind. There is even a retro touch with a horizontal chrome strip in the rear hatch.

Suzuki Baleno

It is also the most aerodynamic car that Suzuki produces with an air resistance coefficient of only 0.2999.

The Baleno is longer, lower and wider than the Swift and is a triumph of the packaging. There is enough space for two large people at the front and back, so that the impressive legroom is available in the back.

The good news does not stop here because the suitcase is a competitive 320 liters – and a fantastic 1,085 with the rear seats.

The seats themselves are comfortable and the dashbroad and the center console are attractive and functional.

The Baleno is also well equipped, with six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB radio with DAB and Bluetooth and rear-private sphere by default.

Spend a little more and you will receive an automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch infotainment screen, an adaptive speed control and radar brakes support.

Start the 109-hp three-pot engine and are greeted with an eager thrum. It is also powerful because the 0-62 miles per hour seem faster than the 11.4 seconds and a top speed of 124 miles per hour.

Thanks to the light construction of the car (only 950 kg), the lively electricity unit and the pleasant, light five-speed gearbox, the Baleno drives well and is surprisingly refined.

The economy is officially 62.7 MPG. During our test drive on mixed streets we made one
specified fuel consumption between 50 and 54MPG without trying it. The CO2 emissions are a low 105 g/km, which means that road tax will only be 20 GBP per year.

Suzuki Baleno

The Baleno is not a quick sport in the handling department, but then the average Supermini buyer is not looking for a hot hat.

However, Nippy and Body Lean are well controlled. It also jumps around a little (nothing more than most superminis), but it’s still a pleasant journey.

Suzuki Baleno

There are a few smaller handles. The load lip for the rear hatch is a bit high and the inner plastics have the accent on durability, but in general it is a case of mission that is fulfilled for Suzuki.

Judgment: The Suzuki Baleno is really a surprise package. Attractive, great, comfortable, spacious and economical and blessed with a small engine.
