We come behind the tax of Polestar’s impressive new child on the block …

New Polestar models are waiting a bit like a bus. They wait for eternity, then two come at the same time.

Full markings for the rightly popular Polestar 2 for flying the flag since it started in 2020, but the larger, upscale polestar 3 and 4 will be welcome to the luxury -EV performance manufacturer.

Despite its lower number, the topic of this review is the more expensive car (newer models receive high numbers in Polestar Land).

The slim polestar 3 is built on the same platform that underpins the new EX90 of the sister brand Volvo, and looks like no other SUV on the street, with its low roof line, its sloping hood and its smooth surfaces.

Inside it is what we expect from state-of-the-art premium-EVS, but luckily it is not as minimalistic as some, and at least there is a digital display of the driver with essential information to the massive 14.5-inch portrait Complementing touchscreen to Google’s excellent Android thegioibiker operating system.

And although there are short cuts on the home screen, the steering wheel height/range and the door levels have to adjust over the screen and steering wheel pillows. And like a Tesla, opening the glove compartment also includes a product of the touchscreen.

Oh, and a special mention for the Epic Bowers & Wilkins -Audio system that is attached to our car.

And thanks to the not insignificant 2985 mm wheel stand and the total length of 4900 mm. Surprisingly, there is also sufficient headroom in the back, although the high floor means that passengers sit in a knee-up position and there is little space to put their feet under the front seat when the driver reduces its seat.

Price of £ 69,900, three versions of Polestar 3 are offered-a single engine of the entry-level class (shortly) and an all-wheel drive engine (75,900 GBP) and the latter with a power package (81,500 GBP).

All receive a 111 kWh (107 kWh) as a standard battery, which gives the basic SPEC model 390 miles on a single load, while even the range receives impressive 348 miles.

At the start, only the dual engines are available and deliver 483 hp or 510 hp (performance pack), which is in ZN. We tested the former who offered more than enough grunts.

Polestar 3 initially feels great on the street, but that is the driver -oriented and the low focus. It is surprisingly agile for a considerable car that weighs around 2.5 tons.

Of course there are no problems with the traction and it is more than fast enough. If at all, the journey is on the fixed side (the optional 22-inch wheels probably didn’t help), but for the most part it is smooth and comfortable.

There are range and performance drive modes as well as adjustments can be carried out on the adaptive suspension and the steering feeling (all over the touchscreen).

It is best crossed, but if you choose the performance mode, Polestar 3 is able to plant with a minimal body in demanding corners with a lot of technology such as torque vectoring and to work on its magic.

Responsible brakes (not with EVS, even in this price range) and sharp steering complete the picture and contribute to awakening trust.

To be honest, it is difficult to choose holes in Polestar. On the positive side there is also a 32-liter brand, which under the bonnet IST-IDEAL for storing load cables.

When you talk about it, there is a 400-volt architecture (although some cheaper competitors have 800-volt systems), which provide a load of 10-80% in just 30 minutes via a 250 kW connection.

There are three settings for braking regulations, but unfortunately no steering wheel paddles. Instead, the selection is made via the touchscreen.

We would need a long time behind the tax to enable a real estimate of the efficiency of the car, but reasonably possible, about 3 miles per kWh, which is the same for the course.

Polestar 3 is manufactured in the USA and China, and its competitors include everything from BMW IX to the Audi Q8 Etron, Tesla Model Y, Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes EQE SUV.

Verdict: Good -looking, spacious, full of technology, stimulated driving and outline quality. The unmistakable Polestar 3 -SUV was worth waiting.
