We test the pure electrical version of Peugeot 3008 of the next generation …
The Peugeot 3008 is a good example of how the automotive industry has developed since 2007.
At that time it was a garbage murderer, but all of this changed in 2016. In a fall, the designers of Peugeot promote the 3008 so that it became one of the most stylish and most distinctive medium -sized SUVs on the market.
The European car of the year 2017 was available at the start with a selection of petrol and diesel engines, although mild hybrids and a plug-in hybrid followed.
So this is SUVs, dies out.
The third generation of 2024 Peugeot 3008 is even more environmentally friendly and the first model used to use the new StLA middle strand by Stellantis Stellantis. Ultimately, there are mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electrical versions.
It is also trendy because it is marketed as a “Electric Fastback SUV”, which means that it has a sporty, sloping roof.
The first model in the 3008 line-up is the 100% electric E-3008. It is equipped with two battery sizes (73 kWh or 98 kWh batteries), but first the former will only be available with a stressed range of 326 miles.
We have to wait until 2025 to 2025 with impressive 422 miles on a load and the dual engine all-wheel drive (73 kWh, 326 miles) for the 98 kWh range.
We tested the entry-level E-3008 73 kWh single engine, which begins at 45,850 GBP.
And the good news is that the new 3008 is even more noticeable than the outgoing car. There is a brave front end with slim LED headlights that are integrated in the frameless radiator grille, but the most obvious is that it now has an aerodynamic SUV coupe profile (think of Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron).
Of course, the brand-shaped light signatures of Peugeot lion claw “LED” LED running lights can also be seen at the front and “three-claw” at the back.
Inside there is the WoW factor of Peugeot’s new “Panoramic I-Cockpit” with a floating, curved 21-inch HD screen that combines the head-up display with the central touchscreen.
I had my problems with the I-Cockpit design of Peugeot before, since the Dinky, the steering wheel with a low set and higher dashboard leads to a somewhat unpleasant driving position for higher drivers (that is, the steering wheel is almost in its lap the dashboard).
Fortunately, this situation in the E-3008 is much improved, although it is still a peculiarity.
The main bullet is that the infotainment screen and the instrument cluster from the previous model are a huge step. The graphics are still not classified, but it is a big improvement and works well.
There are no physical buttons, but the touch keys are great and the ability to create links really increases user -friendliness. There is also a practical language assistant “OK Peugeot”.
The cabin is well designed and the quality is impressive as long as they don’t look too far below, where basic scratchy black plastics lurk.
It is also only in the foreground, but on the back (the rakish profile does not seem to be too strongly influenced) and down in the case.
On the street, the front electric motor develops 213 hp and driving over the front wheels. It’s fast, but not all over the line.
With a torque of 253 pounds, it can complete the sprint of 0-62 miles per hour in respectable 8.8 seconds and equipped with 105 km / h.
For the recording, the E-3008 is able to charge speeds of up to 160 kW, so that it can be increased in just 20 minutes (or 30 minutes via a 100 kW connection) of 20-80%.
Thanks to the light steering, a narrow turning circle and a good view, which can largely drive in urban areas, except for the rear columns and the slim tail window.
And despite a fixed suspension settings and the large 20-inch wheels on our car, it dealt with the lumps and bumps of everyday driving and was only a little unsettled over larger potholes and really bad surfaces.
The handle is good, but the brakes are disappointing (a common problem with EVS) because you lack a progressive feeling and tend to snap.
They are also aware of its mass (2,108 kg) on twisted roads, so there is a body slim. In short, it is from its best and sophisticated cruise at higher speeds.
The drive modes (eco, normal and sport) optimize the dynamics slightly, but they cannot change the fact that this is a family family and not one of the appealing electrical SUVs on the market.
On the positive side there are three levels of regenerative brakes that are set over the steering wheel paddles.
We have achieved an efficiency of around 3.5 miles per kWh, which led to a real range of about 270 miles, so that the upcoming 98 kWh long distance should be flawless if it is important on the scene.
The Peugeot E-3008 is available with a selection of only two equipment variants (Allure and GT). The many competitors include the Renault Scenic E-Tech, Volkswagen ID.5, Nissan Ariya, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model Y, Kia Niro EV, Volvo EC40 and Skoda ENYAQ.
Verdict: If you are looking for a classic and sophisticated SUV in the family size that is loaded with kit and sufficient curb limestone, the brand new, purely electric Peugeot E-3008 could be the car for you.
