Sometimes it is possible to take a car for a spin and know within seconds that you drive something special. The Ford Fiesta ST200 is a first -class example.
With the seventh generation Fiesta, which later arrives in Showrooms in 2017, the ST200 is the last hurray for the bestselling car in the UK in the past eight years.
Ford saved the best with the ST200 – an almost perfect hot hat. Price of 23,145 £ is a car that does not break any records for electricity, acceleration or top speed, but it’s honest, affordable fun in an intoxicating little package.
Under the bonnet is a 1.6-liter turbo engine of 197 HP (turbocharger turbocharger) (Up from the 180 hp of the Standard ST). And just to show how things have developed, it is twice as high as the predecessor of the Fiesta XR2 20 years ago.
But here is the thing if the “remaining” uses it, there is an additional 15 hp for up to 20 seconds at full throttle.
The powerful ‘Ecoboost’ engine is paired with a chic 6-speed manual transmission and can drive the car out of standstill in 6.7 seconds and a top speed from 143 km / h. It also does not go from puff from the acceleration of 31 to 82 miles per hour only takes 5.2 seconds in fourth gear.
Officially, it is able to return 46.3 MPG, but the ST200 is one of the cars that are almost impossible to drive economically. So expect 30 MPG or less.
It also looks from the part. My test car was in a serious stormy storm gray and showed somewhat subtle ‘ST200’ badge, a unique ST-design body kit with rear spoiler, privacy, two chrome exhaust pipes, matt black 17-inch alloy wheels and red brake kings.
Inside there are magnificent Recaro sports seats front front as well as a land-based steering wheel and a GOB steering wheel with St. leather.
Looks, but the noise also makes a car, and here Ford has nailed it again. Not a lot of hot superminis growl like this little beauty … And who interests it whether it is improved digitally?
Driving the ST200 also conjures up a smile on your face, since it not only feels quickly, but the traction is phenomenal for a car that sends so much electricity through the front wheels.
With precise steering and go-kart-like handling, the ST200 is one of the most dynamic small cars that you will ever drive. In contrast to some hot hatches, the driving resolution for comfort and performance is set up, so it does not distribute its fillings.
Of course, no car is perfect and there is a blatant problem with the ST200, and that is the outdated center console with a forest made of buttons and a tiny 4-inch screen that can be reached. After small, the infotainment is perfectly functional after a while. In addition, thanks to the sports seats, the rear seat is limited.
Ultimately, his strengths cancel these handles many times and everything is forgiven. In fact, the ST200 will be one of the most collectable Fords in the coming years.
Conclusion: Fun and fabulous to look at, the pocket rocket that the ST200 is, is the perfect pregnancy for the MK6 -Fiesta.
